At one time Grosse Pointe was the hub of culture. Not only did leadership come from places like Grosse Pointe, but they built theaters and housed great performances as a testament of our community and their hard work.
Today much of our society has become more sports-based, which is wonderful for team-building, however where does one learn to become the defined leader? All of my students play sports, but the vast difference is most of my students are the team leaders of the sports that they playing. From being captains to being the most valuable players. So what’s the difference? My pupils understand that piano is a sport of "Personal Best." If there is failure during a performance, the responsibility lies at their feet. If they are triumphant in their performance, they receive all the glory. Piano teaches that perseverance leads to success; and each of my students know this on a fundamental level.

The students I work with not only develop their physical bodies in athletics, but they give their brain the equivalent of a full body workout with their piano study. We know this because of the work of modern neuroscience. By researching the brain in real time, using fMRI and PET scans, scientists have found that playing music stimulates the visual, auditory, and motor cortexes of the brain. By working both hemispheres of the brain and strengthening the corpus callosum with engaging art of playing piano, my students have a noticeable competitive edge over their contemporaries. While the neighbor's kids are trying to figure out how to get into the U of M on a baseball scholarship or concerning themselves on how they are going to be the next "Red Wing," my students are being accepted as leaders in places like Princeton, Columbia, and Annapolis as commissioned officers.

I have included a great TED talk video at the bottom of this page detailing the fantastic claims that I am making about the art of studying an instrument. If you have a few minutes to spare, it is well worth your time to watch.
I can proudly tell you that my studio is one of the most dominant piano methods in Grosse Pointe today. The passion that my students have for our art form is infectious and has kept us as a top tier music school in South East Michigan. Keeping in line with their enthusiasm I am always looking to grow, build and capitalize on our success, keeping our studio at the highest level of top rated music schools. I am always looking for the next dedicated, determined, and disciplined kid/ family who has the desire to achieve excellence. Piano is not easy. It is hard, expensive, and it is not for everybody; this is why a good teacher is needed who understands what we affectionately call the FOUR D's. Dedication, Determination, Discipline and Desire not only build the ultimate pianist... they create unmeasurable character that can withstand the pressure of life. This is why my students are exceptional. This is why piano is not just important; but crucial for high level success.
