Crossing Boarders and Leaping the Pond

Life is funny. Sometimes that which we don't understand or perhaps fear, might just end up being the unseen force that changes your life's direction for the good. When COVID hit, I was not sure how I was going to make my piano business work much less flourish. But I have found that creativity, thanks to piano, has given me an edge. And I found that using that edge not only helped my business stay afloat but thrive and expand. Not just on the local level, but on an international level.

I received a call a few weeks back, from an old friend. She wasShe was interested in starting her grandson with taking piano lessons, and wanted him to experience the . “musiganme” method in learning piano. Her youngest daughter studied piano with my associate at my old studio on Mack Avenue, so she was very aware of the process and how the system worked.

There are kids that I have never physically met, yet still get their personal weekly piano lesson.

What made this an exception was that her grandson was not located in Grosse Pointe, he wasn’t even located in the United States. As a matter fact, he’s in Europe; Brussels to be exact. Well, this year I started several children on zoom. There are kids that I have never physically met, yet still get their personal weekly piano lesson. So this was not new territory. I arranged an audition; and Miller started piano lessons the following week! Welcome Miller!!!

I’m amazed at the power of our technology, and how it can literally bridge a gap that is half a world away. It has really opened my mind into a new way of thinking which includes spreading my method of teaching on a global level. This is a process and a thought that I would never of had two years ago. The fact of the matter is: by changing my approach, I have been able to grow in a truly unexpected way. And that really harkens to the message that I preach, which is: “I am not teaching you to play the piano, I am rewiring your brain and training it to think in a more creative, all encompassing and multifaceted way.”

"My focus is to train the brain to a certain way of thinking in problem solving and teach my proteges how to change the "learners perspective" ...

Many of my competitors have gone away, because they do not understand the full nature of what they are doing. They can not figure out how to appropriately adapt to the current climate because they do not understand the true power of music and playing piano.. But that’s where my studio is different. My focus is to train the brain to a certain way of thinking in problem solving and teach my proteges how to change the "learners perspective" at a moments notice looking at a problem from many vantage points thus giving a greater understanding of the situation at hand and to make the experience of learning piano more enriching and more engaging by using current and burgeoning technologies as tools to advance my cause..

...creative thinking is not only saved my business, but it has launched it into the stratosphere.

Even from a distance, creative thinking is not only saved my business, but it has launched it into the stratosphere. And that’s something that I don’t think you can get from any other discipline. For those who are interested in my methods or interested in taking lessons, feel free to contact me via email or call me directly at 313-740-8601. I would love to talk to you and and answer any questions that you may have.
